[SINGAPORE] Amid rising global trade tensions and political uncertainty in 2025, the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCCI) supported 16,000 businesses through advocacy, capability building, business transformation and internationalisation, it said in its year-in-review on Thursday (Apr 9).

Said its president, Kho Choon Keng: “In 2025, SCCCI strengthened our role as a ‘bridge’ to facilitate communication between the government and the business community, while expanding regional linkages and accelerating enterprise transformation in key areas including sustainability, digitalisation and AI (artificial intelligence).”

In 2025, the chamber gathered the business community’s feedback on tariff concerns and shared these with economic agencies. It also supported the formation of the Singapore Economic Resilience Taskforce, which was created to strengthen the resilience of businesses and workers.

After Budget 2025, it organised engagement sessions with ministers to share first-hand feedback; it later submitted recommendations for Budget 2026 based on its annual member survey.

    Becoming regional players

SCCCI said it “strengthened its regional outreach” in 2025, helping businesses explore growth opportunities across South-east Asia and China while deepening cross-border partnerships.

It pointed to an agreement signed with The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia (ACCCIM) and UOB, to facilitate opportunities in the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone (JS-SEZ); and another with Maybank, to provide financing solutions for members looking to expand into the JS-SEZ and South-east Asia.

Regionally, the chamber strengthened ties through initiatives such as forums and business missions, as well as its flagship conference.

SCCCI said the conference brought leaders of Chinese chambers of commerce in five South-east Asian countries together for the first time. It attracted more than 4,000 participants, serving as a “platform to exchange regional insights”.

Beyond the region, SCCCI enhanced collaboration with China’s business community. It organised five business missions to Beijing, Gansu, Shanghai and Nanjing, and hosted conferences and forums.

Close to 390 companies were engaged by SCCCI’s representative offices in Shanghai and Chengdu as they ventured into China, the chamber said. It also received 43 Chinese delegations in Singapore.

In November 2025, SCCCI led a 77-participant business delegation to the 18th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention in Macau, exploring opportunities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and strengthening international business links.

    Getting future-ready

Another area SCCCI increased support in was enterprise transformation, with a focus on sustainability, digitalisation and AI adoption.

Its 62nd Council established a committee to promote green transformation, and 21 trade associations have since joined SCCCI’s Sustainability Alliance. In total, 546 business participants benefited from the alliance’s initiatives in 2025.

To further AI adoption, SCCCI introduced initiatives to help enterprises better apply emerging technologies across industries.

The Trade Association Committee (Tacom) Transformation Centre, established to catalyse transformation, supported 13 trade associations in implementing over 25 transformation projects. These spanned digitalisation and AI, internationalisation, sustainability and advocacy, while strengthening their secretariat and operational capabilities.

To build enterprise capabilities, SCCCI’s institute added 15 new courses and trained 1,219 participants in 2025.

Business advisory centre SME Centre@SCCCI facilitated 4,200 business cases involving 1,600 participants across advisory, capability development, business-matching services and thematic workshops – a double-digit growth rate compared to the previous year.

Aside from supporting businesses’ growth, the chamber organised cultural exhibitions, national events, traditional celebrations and member engagements.

SCCCI said it worked to uphold the “Chinese entrepreneurial spirit”, contribute to society and nurture future leaders.
