Singapore’s energy sector to offer highest bonuses in 2025, transport firms lead salary increments: survey
35 per cent of employers polled intend to award between one and one-and-a-half months of bonus pay, while 12 per cent aim to provide more than one-and-a-half months
EMPLOYERS in Singapore’s energy and utilities sector are expected to offer the highest bonuses heading into 2025, with all respondents planning to award at least one month or more, according to a survey by recruitment agency ManpowerGroup.
Companies in the transport, logistics and automotive sector are set to lead in salary increments, with 91 per cent of surveyed employers intending to raise salaries by 3 per cent or more, ManpowerGroup said on Monday (Dec 2).
Of the 525 employers surveyed on their salary and bonus plans for 2024 and 2025, 89 per cent plan to award bonuses averaging more than one month, up from 84 per cent in the previous year.
Additionally, 35 per cent of employers intend to award between one and one-and-a-half months of bonus pay, while 12 per cent aim to provide more than one-and-a-half months.
These represent increases of eight and five percentage points, respectively, compared with the year-ago period, ManpowerGroup noted.
Salary increments
For salary increments, 82 per cent of employers intend to raise wages by at least 3 per cent, independent of factors such as industry, company performance, economic conditions and individual performance.
Larger increments of 5 per cent or more are also on the rise, with 20 per cent of employers planning increases of between 5 and 7 per cent, while 6 per cent expect to raise salaries by more than 7 per cent. These represent increases of one and three percentage points, respectively, compared with 2023 and 2024.
“Even while the global economy remains uncertain, many companies are still awarding bonuses to acknowledge employees’ efforts throughout the year.”
