AETOS Holdings has partnered SkillsFuture Singapore to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the security sector to transform digitally and upskill their workforce.

This comes from the security services provider being identified by SkillsFuture Singapore as a “queen bee” under SkillsFuture’s Queen Bee programme. A queen bee is an industry leader that mentors SMEs within its industry on workforce development and business transformation.

Aetos, which was acquired by Surbana Jurong Group in 2016, is the first SkillsFuture queen bee to be appointed for the security sector. The three-year partnership aligns with the Security Industry Transformation Map 2025, which was launched in 2018 and subsequently refreshed.

Under the SkillsFuture Queen Bee initiative, Aetos will equip security agencies – particularly SMEs – and their employees with skills to enhance their digital operations and stay abreast of technological advancements.

The company will develop a mentorship programme for SMEs and their employees, through which it will aid them in adopting interoperable technology for unified, outcome-based security operations, on top of building skills for business transformation.

Aetos’ programme will offer SMEs two pathways. The first looks at employee professionalisation and job redesign, and focuses on enhancing employee productivity and performance through upskilling and reskilling initiatives.

The second is on digitalisation and automation, and supports the transition to outcome-based contracting by adopting integrated technology solutions.

Aetos will organise security business transformation awareness workshops for participating SMEs to learn best practices. SMEs can also consult the company’s subject-matter experts to help them develop integrated business solutions.

In addition, Aetos will help participating SMEs bridge skills gaps among employees through bespoke training programmes.

These will cover in-demand areas such as integrated command centre monitoring, intruder alarm systems, service mindsets, integrated security and facilities visual inspection, among others.

Over the three-year partnership, Aetos aims to train more than 5,000 learners and mentor 100 proof-of-concept projects for security agencies.

It hopes to help participating SMEs to develop digital capabilities, such as integrating and implementing effective frontline technologies, which will enable the delivery of higher-quality security services and operational outcomes.

Aetos senior executive director Jerry See noted that the security industry is currently “at an inflection point, where technology and skills are vital to drive productivity and meet manpower challenges”.

“As the appointed SkillsFuture queen bee, Aetos will share its transformation expertise to enable SMEs in developing future-ready, multiskilled teams empowered by technology,” he said.

SkillsFuture Singapore chief executive Tan Kok Yam said: “SMEs in this space can now better leverage... Aetos’ expertise and capabilities, to pursue workforce development, innovation and digitalisation.”
