THE family behind the Violet Oon group had found it “almost impossible” to make commercial decisions in the past year, said Oon’s son Tay Yiming on Friday (Jul 14), in his second day of testimony in the High Court.
This is due to “fear of being threatened, being evicted from the board, or simply not being responded to”, said Tay, head of operations at his mother’s eponymous group of restaurants.
He was responding to Justice Philip Jeyaretnam, who asked why shareholders would be unable to “make decisions that are commercially sensible”, even if they had personal disagreements.
