MC Packaging is moving production to China and exploring new forms of metal packaging

AMID rising costs and a shortage of skilled labour in Singapore, home-grown metal can manufacturer MC Packaging is expanding its operations in China, from which it hopes to supply the world.
The traditional metal packaging industry has undergone a “revitalisation” thanks to the global sustainability push, said Remus Whang, executive director and third-generation leader of MC Packaging.
“There’s value in metal packaging, which is inherently recyclable,” he told The Business Times. Environmental concerns have prompted a shift away from plastic – the packaging of choice in the 2000s – despite its lower cost, he noted.
