DINERS in Singapore will soon be able to try dishes such as pan-fried mealworms and cricket-topped sushi, once official approval is granted for insects to be sold for human consumption.

Originally due by the second half of 2023, this regulatory framework is now expected to be released in July by the Singapore Food Agency (SFA).

Ahead of this, some restaurants and bars have already prepared a range of dishes with insects among the ingredients – and are getting keen interest from customers.
