THERE has been plenty of debate around the challenges that companies in Singapore face, particularly SMEs (small and medium-sized enterprises), given the current tough economic conditions. Over the past few years, the government has introduced numerous incentives and support mechanisms designed to encourage productivity and alleviate the labour shortage.
However, while such programmes play a role, the most effective way of increasing the competitiveness of our companies is by encouraging them to look inwards, and finding savings within their own processes.
