POH Kay Ping is from the family that founded Poh Tiong Choon Logistics - one of the largest transport providers in the Asia logistics industry - but he left the family business to pursue his own interests in 2010.
"Running a family business is different from building my own. When it is your own, you build from scratch, versus taking over from somebody - there is a difference," says Mr Poh. "I find that if there's opportunity in this world in my lifetime, I should try and seize the opportunity."
He credits this gung-ho attitude to his years in the United States. After getting a diploma in Engineering from Singapore Polytechnic, Mr Poh went on to Nanyang Technological University. In his second year, he decided to go overseas to finish his degree in Engineering Physics.
