Logistics players brace for delivery surge this 11/11
They have ramped up manpower and resources, increased warehouse capacity and tapped technologies.
LOGISTICS companies are bracing for an unusually busy 11/11 shopping festival this year, as demand for e-commerce deliveries driven by online shopping during the Covid-19 pandemic continues to climb.
The event, also known as Singles' Day, has seen steady growth each year since it started. According to data analysed by advertising platform Criteo, Singapore's online retail sales and traffic increased by 477 and 126 per cent respectively on Singles' Day 2019.
The 2020 edition will likely see even stronger growth from the surge in online shopping sparked by the circuit breaker in April and May when customers embraced online shopping for a wider range of products, and many brands set up digital storefronts for the first time.
