Design Orchard provides a showcase for their eco-friendly lifestyle products

    HELPING the fashion industry be sustainable is one of three key priorities of the newly-rebranded Singapore Fashion Council (SFC). Beyond fashion, eco-friendly local lifestyle brands have also been given a home at SFC’s retail and incubation space in Design Orchard.

    The Business Times speaks to sustainable activewear label MYE and homeware business Chokmah, two brands selected for Design Orchard’s open call. The call grants local brands a one-year retail space, and opportunities to be featured at monthly events.

    MYE: sustainable activewear for women

    Apparel brand MYE’s activewear may be made from recycled plastic bottles, but that doesn’t make it any less durable, says founder Mai Takemori. “We have people who go, ‘Oh, so it’s like trash and not as good quality’ because it’s not made from fresh or new materials. That isn’t true.”
