FOOD and beverage (F&B) operators might have heaved a sigh of relief when the rules for dining-in were further relaxed last week but the same cannot be said for the nightlife industry.

Since March 2020, bars and pubs cannot have "live" music, and must cease alcohol sale by 10.30 pm.

The nightlife industry, however, was given a slight reprieve when piped-in music was allowed again earlier in November after a 5-month-long ban. All that has not stopped new entrants from coming onto the scene in recent months though. Vertigo 26, a bar and vinyl shop located in Seah Street opened in August; while Stay Gold Flamingo on Amoy Street, which operates as coffee bar Flamingo by day before transforming into cocktail bar Stay Gold by night, followed suit a month later.
