WITH the new Nutri-Grade labelling scheme set to kick in by year-end, beverage manufacturers in Singapore have reformulated their existing drink recipes to fulfil lower sugar requirements and rolled out nutrition labels for products ahead of time.

From Dec 30, all pre-packaged non-alcoholic drinks are subject to grading ranging from A to D, with D being the unhealthiest. They must also carry a nutrition information panel specifying values such as the amount of total sugar, saturated fat, carbohydrate and protein.

Drinks graded C or D are required to carry a Nutri-Grade mark on the front of the packaging or have the mark visibly displayed if sold online, in a vending machine or from a dispenser.
