EVEN as the global speciality chemicals industry struggles through a slowdown, distributor Maha is looking ahead to the upcoming green transition.

The company is stocking up on green and sustainable chemicals, which managing director Chew Chin Seong hopes will comprise 80 per cent of Maha’s revenue by 2025, up from 55 per cent now.

By Maha’s account, to be considered “green and sustainable”, a product must meet global standards for toxicity levels and be synthesised from renewable feedstock, among other criteria.
