Raising the bar with Industry 4.0 standards
This is crucial to ensure manufacturers' systems are protected against cyber attacks and compatible with new solutions they plan to adopt.
AS LOCAL manufacturers implement advanced manufacturing or Industry 4.0 solutions in their facilities, adopting the relevant standards will be crucial to ensure that their systems are protected against cyber attacks and compatible with new solutions they will deploy in future.
Industry 4.0 involves connecting machines in a manufacturing facility via the Internet of Things (IoT) to automate processes and collect data that can be used to optimise operations, boost productivity and improve demand forecasts.
"Standards help organisations to develop, manufacture and supply goods and services in a more efficient, safer and sustainable way," Terence Teo, president of the Singapore Industrial Automation Association (SIAA) told The Business Times.
