Some pointers on how startups and corporates can team up

Published Mon, Apr 13, 2015 · 09:50 PM

WHEN startups and corporates work together, the relationship can often be difficult, mainly due to the inherent differences between the two. On one side is the startup company, with a risk-taking spirit, rapid decision-making process and ability to create new tech solutions that could potentially disrupt the market. On the other side is the large, well-established corporation, which typically has more capital, connections and resources.

However, when both organisations manage the project and their expectations well, this can turn into a partnership made in heaven, as these differences can synergise their strengths. A good startup-corporate partnership provides the corporate the ability to pursue new market opportunities quickly and effectively, while at the same time offering the startup additional resources to execute an innovative idea.

Here are some tips on how to combine the nimbleness and tech savviness of a startup with the resources, distribution channels and experience of a large corporate, for a successful partnership.
