South Korea’s President Yoon to make 3-day official visit to Singapore
Visit comes ahead of 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations in 1975 between the two countries
SOUTH Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol will be in Singapore on a three-day visit between Oct 7 and 9, at the invitation of the city-state’s President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.
The visit will provide a good opportunity for both sides to discuss ways to deepen bilateral ties, said Singapore’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press statement on Sunday (Oct 6). It comes ahead of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the two nations’ diplomatic relations in 1975.
During the visit, Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong and President Yoon will witness the signing of an extradition treaty, as well as the exchange of several memoranda of understanding to enhance bilateral cooperation in trade, food safety, energy, startups and technology.
President Yoon will also deliver a keynote speech at the Singapore-Korea Business Forum, organised by the Singapore Business Federation and the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
