TOYOTA was the top-selling car brand in Singapore for the first half of 2023, with German luxury brands Mercedes-Benz and BMW rounding out the top three.
Toyota passenger car registrations totalled 2,867, or 21.7 per cent of the 13,224 new passenger cars registered.
Mercedes-Benz registered 2,229 units, or 16.9 per cent of the total; and BMW registered 1,690 units, or 12.8 per cent, Land Transport Authority figures released on Friday (Jul 14) indicated.
All three brands have sold fewer cars than they had this time last year – a reflection of the fact that the passenger car market has shrunk 20.2 per cent year on year.
Mainstream East Asia brands made up the bulk of the top 10 brands, with Honda (568), Nissan (568) and Mazda (468), taking fourth to sixth places, respectively. South Korean brands Kia (423) and Hyundai (333) were seventh and 10th, respectively.
Omitting parallel import (PI) vehicles, Mercedes-Benz was the top-selling brand followed by BMW and Toyota.

Mercedes-Benz registered the highest number of non-PI cars at 1,982; followed by BMW with 1,657 cars, and Toyota with 1,558 cars.
PI registrations made up 21.3 per cent or 2,824 of the total passenger car registrations.
United States electric vehicle (EV) brand Tesla was eighth on the registrations list. It registered 400 cars, making it the top seller of EVs.
Chinese EV brand BYD was in ninth spot with 363 units registered, and the second best-selling brand of EVs. It was a new entrant into the top 10, making 2023 the first time that there have been two EV-only brands in the top 10 in Singapore.
BMW pipped Mercedes-Benz with the third most EVs registered, at 298.
