Workers’ Party MP Faisal Manap in ICU for cardiac condition
Aljunied GRC MP and Workers’ Party (WP) vice-chairman Faisal Manap was hospitalised on Monday (Jul 24) night for a cardiac condition.
WP said on Tuesday that Faisal is conscious and in stable condition. He is being monitored and cared for in the intensive care unit (ICU).
“His family appreciate the public’s concern, and they have requested for privacy so he can focus on his recuperation,” the party added.
Faisal, 48, has been an MP for Aljunied GRC since 2011.
In his absence from work, the remaining Aljunied GRC MPs – Sylvia Lim, Gerald Giam and Pritam Singh – and other WP members will cover his constituency duties.
Faisal’s absence comes after fellow Aljunied GRC MP Leon Perera’s resignation on Jul 19 for lying about an affair he had with former WP Youth Wing president Nicole Seah. THE STRAITS TIMES
