Climate tech company Chooose raises US$15m in funding co-led by Temasek’s GenZero

NORWAY-BASED climate tech company Chooose has announced a US$15 million funding round co-led by GenZero and Soundwaves.
Existing investors including Shell Ventures and Vinyl Capital also participated in the round, said Chooose and the two companies that co-led the round on Friday (Jan 13).
GenZero is a decarbonisation-focused investment company wholly owned by Temasek. Soundwaves is a sustainability-focused investment vehicle co-founded by American actor Ashton Kutcher and Israeli-American talent manager Guy Oseary.
Other current investors in Chooose include Amadeus IT Group and Contrarian VC.
Chooose intends to use the fresh funding to expand its Software-as-a-Service platform that enables its enterprise users to build, manage, and report on customer-centric climate programmes.
Platform offerings include standard integrations, automated CO2 emission calculations, and connected marketplaces of carbon solutions.

The funds will also be used to broaden the portfolio of both immediately available and frontier carbon solutions that are currently supported on the platform.
Chooose also plans to expand its footprint across more geographies to provide greater accessibility and support to its increasingly international client base – which at present includes names such as Booking.com, British Airways and Japan Airlines.
Chooose chief executive officer and co-founder Andreas Slettvoll highlighted an increasing need among both organisations and individuals to factor climate impact into decision-making and to support solutions.
This can be made easier by “embedding awareness and access to climate solutions in the right places” through the use of software, he said.
“Chooose’s deep familiarity with sectors such as aviation and travel allows (users) to seamlessly embed robust and accurate emissions calculations and carbon mitigation solutions, including high-quality carbon offsets and sustainable aviation fuel, within its user-friendly interface,” added Frederick Teo, chief executive of GenZero.
