Fintech Validus names group chief financial officer
He will oversee the SME financing platform’s finance and corporate development function and lead business strategy across South-east Asia

VALIDUS, a financing platform for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has named Chong Khai Siang as group chief financial officer, effective immediately, it announced on Monday (Jul 8).
In his new role, Chong reports to group chief executive Nikhilesh Goel, and will oversee Validus’ finance and corporate development function and lead business strategy across South-east Asia.
He was most recently a senior leader at Fullerton Financial Holdings (FFH), a wholly owned portfolio company of Temasek. In this role, Chong served on the management team and oversaw treasury and capital markets, corporate communications, and a wholly owned subsidiary in China.
Before FFH, Chong was head of liability management, ALM in Standard Chartered Bank’s financial markets front office, managing the balance sheet and regulatory requirements.
“As we continue to address the US$270 billion financing gap faced by SMEs in the region, his expertise will be pivotal in identifying opportunities and implementing robust financial solutions across South-east Asia,” Goel said.
