Foodpanda, Tada to jointly offer customer perks in Singapore and Cambodia
FOOD delivery provider Foodpanda and ride-hailing service Tada Mobility are rolling out joint consumer discounts and loyalty programmes in Singapore and Cambodia, starting from Thursday (Apr 20).
Both companies announced this collaboration at a press conference in Foodpanda’s Robinson Road office, where they inked a memorandum of understanding (details of user benefits at bottom).
The partnership will allow Tada to tap a larger community that uses ride hailing and food delivery frequently, said the company’s chief executive Sean Kim. The timing also ties in with the upcoming SEA Games in Cambodia.
Owned by South Korean startup Mass Vehicle Ledger, Tada entered Singapore back in 2018, before expanding to Cambodia and Vietnam the following year. It bills itself as a zero-commission app that taps blockchain technology.
Foodpanda chief executive Jakob Angele described the partnership as a “natural next step”, given that both companies serve everyday consumer needs. Asked why Foodpanda chose not to build its own ride-hailing product, he said that it still wants to focus on its core food and grocery offerings.
Entering multiple verticals “might be a great investor story and maybe some investors are willing to give you millions and so on, but I truly believe that’s not a good way to build a great business”, he said.

While Tada and Foodpanda will be offering discounts, this is not a return to the price war days. “We are not interested to enter into a pricing war, absolutely not,” said Angele. “But having said that, we are interested in providing good and reasonable prices and interesting discounts and deals to our customers.”
User perks
From Thursday, up to 30,000 Tada users in Singapore can opt in to receive a complimentary subscription to Foodpanda’s Pandapro service, which offers free deliveries, special pickup offers and dine-in deals.
Meanwhile, up to 30,000 Pandapro subscribers in Singapore will automatically receive 25 per cent discount vouchers, capped at S$4, in their Tada accounts. Foodpanda’s corporate product, Foodpanda for Business, will also include Tada’s business transport solution.
Foodpanda users in Cambodia will enjoy free rides to locations that are within three kilometres, and get 50 per cent discount codes for subsequent rides. From May 1 to Jun 30, Foodpanda customers can also use their Tada voucher codes to get discounted rides to go to SEA Games venues. Tada users will enjoy a 50 per cent discount on Foodpanda orders.
Both companies will look to expand the consumer benefits over time, said Tada’s Kim.
