Singapore-based AI startup Mindverse obtains US$5 million in seed funding

SINGAPORE-BASED Mindverse has obtained US$5 million in a seed funding round led by venture capital firm Square Peg.

The artificial intelligence (AI) startup will use the funding and support from Square Peg to further its research and product development to advance its large personalisation model.

Mindverse was founded in 2022 by former Meta executives and AI researchers. Its flagship products include MindOS Studio, which helps create AI-native websites with personalised chat experiences and interfaces, and Mebot, a productivity tool that learns and memorises a user’s thoughts and preferences.

Dr Felix Tao, Mindverse’s founder and chief executive, said: “We observed that people send e-mails to themselves when they think of something on the go, or when they come across a great article while they are browsing online. But these e-mail threads are hard to organise and easy to forget.”

He noted that AI can help organise, retrieve and regenerate one’s memories with ease, and is able to learn about one’s thinking patterns and preferences. As a result, it can provide more personalised services.

Square Peg partner Tushar Roy said: “We are in the midst of a generational AI shift that will move from generalised language models to personalised experiences (and) it is rare to find a team the calibre of Mindverse’s tackling this shift.”
