[SINGAPORE] Fintech Airwallex has raised a US$330 million Series G funding round led by Addition, with participation from Robinhood Ventures and T Rowe Price, it announced on Monday (Dec 8).

This round now values the company at US$8 billion, a jump from US$6.2 billion after its Series F round. The funding will drive Airwallex’s growth in the US and other key markets, as well as hiring and product development.

Airwallex, backed by Tencent, will set up a second headquarters in San Francisco, California, after securing the funding.

Headcount in the US will be doubled to 400, with the majority of the new hires in the San Francisco office. The company also has a sales hub in Austin, Texas.

“Our US business is growing quickly and we want more local support for our customers over there,” Lucy Liu, co-founder and president, Airwallex, told The Business Times.

The second headquarters in San Francisco is expected to help the company attract talent to build its capabilities and products.

The company now is in a better position to hire competitively with the new funding secured, said Liu.

Airwallex will still keep an eye on Asia, with the Republic remaining as its other headquarters. There are plans for Singapore to serve as a regional hub for Asia, with Airwallex being “everywhere all at once”, she added.

Separately, Airwallex has acquired Indonesia-based Skye Sab Indonesia, which holds a Penyedia Jasa Pembayaran Category 1 licence. This licence will allow the company to provide all core payment activities from provision of information on the source of the funds to payments, remittances and managing source of funds.

“Indonesia’s fast-growing economy and vibrant small and medium-sized enterprise sector present immense opportunities,” said Arnold Chan, general manager, Apac at Airwallex.

Artificial intelligence (AI) remains a top priority, with the company making good progress with AI agents, said Liu. An Expense Submission Agent launched on Monday can collect receipts, reconcile them to transactions, categorise the expenses and populate the required fields for submission.

On the backend, Airwallex has already incorporated AI into its operational workflows to boost efficiency and accuracy. For example, the company uses technology combined with compliance models to ensure it is within regulations.

The company’s annualised revenue for 2025 crossed US$1 billion in October, up 90 per cent year on year. Annualised transaction volume doubled to more than US$235 billion in the same month. Airwallex now has 80 licences and permits globally, operating in over 200 countries and regions.

In 2025, the company expanded into 12 new markets, including France, Japan and the United Arab Emirates.
