Content creator platform by ex-Kudo CEO raises US$10m led by East Ventures
TIPTIP, a soon-to-be-launched content creator platform by Indonesian entrepreneur Albert Lucius, has raised US$10 million in seed funding led by East Ventures.
Other investors in the round include venture investors Vertex and SMDV, Indonesian conglomerate Emtek and family offices. The startup is a new venture by Lucius, who was previously CEO of Kudo, an online-to-offline e-commerce startup acquired by Grab in 2017.
TipTip operates in Indonesia and Singapore and has more than 70 employees. It aims to provide a platform for content creators to earn money through personalised video sessions, the sale of premium digital content and direct fan interaction. The platform will launch in April on a by-invitation basis, followed by a public launch in Indonesia.
Willson Cuaca, co-founder and managing partner of East Ventures, expressed confidence in the potential of the content creator economy. "It is obvious to us that some of the consumer behavior that formed during the pandemic will stay beyond the pandemic, TipTip is well-positioned to capture that," he said.
