BERYLLIUM, a Singapore-based platform aimed at allowing users to buy and sell fantasy stocks in athletes, has raised US$3 million in pre-Series A funding led by Bullpen Capital.

Other investors in the round include Singapore-based Genting Ventures, the corporate venture arm of Malaysian conglomerate Genting Group, and existing investor Velo Partners. Beryllium had previously raised a US$600,000 seed round in November 2019.

The two-year-old startup will use the fresh funding to expand the team and engineering resources, while exploring more product avenues, game formats, and features. Beryllium recently launched its first brand, Sixer, revolving around the concept of fantasy cricket in India.

Paul Martino, general partner at Bullpen Capital, said that he sees a "massive opportunity" for Beryllium in the fantasy sports industry. The startup's founder, Amay Makhija, said he aims to create a "platform that guarantees a seamless user experience".
