Flexibility seen as highly-prized trade-off in pursuit of gig workers' rights

    AS SINGAPORE'S manpower ministry reviews labour rights for private-hire car, delivery and taxi drivers, platform workers and companies interviewed by The Business Times have voiced concern over losing out on one key thing: flexibility.

    The status of gig workers has come under scrutiny recently, with jurisdictions like the United Kingdom and Spain ordering platform companies to employ their contractors as staff with benefits and protections.
