Foodpanda CEO Jakob Angele departs, replaced by John Fang

JAKOB Angele has left foodpanda as its chief executive officer on Monday (Oct 16), the food delivery company announced. It declined to comment on the reasons for his departure.

Angele, who was with foodpanda for nine years, has been replaced by John Fang, who most recently served as chief international officer.

The move comes amid recent layoffs and news that foodpanda’s businesses in Singapore and six other South-east Asian markets could be sold off, potentially to rival Grab. The 11-year-old company is currently owned by Germany’s Delivery Hero, which bought it in 2016.

Fang has been with foodpanda for six years, since he joined as CEO in Taiwan. In his most recent role as chief international officer, he managed business operations across foodpanda’s 11 markets.

“John will continue to lead and grow foodpanda’s business, staying focused to bring value and purpose to the food and grocery delivery ecosystem that foodpanda serves,” the company said in its statement.
