Grab’s layoffs: high time or alarming

Last Tuesday, Grab announced its biggest layoffs to date, cutting 1,000 jobs across business units and geographies. The move came just 10 months after chief operating officer Alex Hungate told the media that the company did not see itself joining others in rolling out mass layoffs.
While Grab offered support for those impacted, some advocates in the Philippines have urged the regional superapp to work with the local government to address the layoffs.
