SINGAPORE-BASED health technology startup MiyaHealth has amassed a total of S$10.4 million in pre-Series A funding after securing an extension of S$2.4 million.

Participating investors include Fondation Botnar represented by impact investment advisory firm Sagana, as well as existing investors ST Engineering Ventures, Elev8, and HealthXCapital.

The extension follows fund-raising efforts which brought in S$6.5 million and S$1.5 million, which took place in February and August 2022, respectively.

Proceeds from the pre-Series A round will be used for the company’s expansion across Europe and South-east Asia, starting with Poland, Indonesia and the Philippines. Future markets of interest include Thailand, Vietnam and the Middle East.

“Despite the funding winter that is happening across South-east Asia, we are heartened to have the support of our new and existing investors. Their investment is a recognition of the value that our digital infrastructure and solutions bring in enabling healthcare systems to scale,” said MiyaHealth’s co-founder and chief executive Ramesh Rajentheran on Thursday (Aug 26).

The company hopes to raise its Series A round in the first quarter of 2024.

After launching partnerships with companies such as with Polish biotech company Bioton in the last year, MiyaHealth intends to onboard more partners – insurers, hospitals and governments – by end-2023.

The startup said it is in the final stages of closing multiple 10-year contract deals for two of its product suites, MiyaPayor and MiyaProvider, in the Philippines and Indonesia.

MiyaPayor is a platform that allows users to access affordable healthcare options, while MiyaProvider aims to help patients improve their experience in hospitals and clinics. Another product suite, MiyaPatient, is a personalised platform for patients to manage chronic illnesses.

MiyaHealth also plans to expand its leadership team by hiring with a focus on commercial strategy and client servicing.

On this note, the company said it appointed Kevin Yeap as its head of commercial and customer success to spearhead the company’s growth strategy.

Yeap has around 13 years of experience in international expansion and business development. He held a series of leadership roles in the startup industry including, with healthcare artificial intelligence company, EVYD Technology. He has also led business development for IBM Watson Health.

In his new role at MiyaHealth, Yeap is responsible for pushing growth and value-creation opportunities for the company’s partners within the healthcare ecosystem.
