INDONESIAN consumer health technology startup Diri Care has secured US$4.3 million in a seed funding round co-led by venture capital firms East Ventures as well as Sequoia Capital India and Southeast Asia and its accelerator programme, Surge.
The round included follow-on participation from angel investor Henry Hendrawan, president of Indonesian online travel startup Traveloka.
In a press statement on Thursday (Aug 11), Diri Care said the fresh funding will be channelled into expanding access to its offerings, while further enhancing its platform’s technological capabilities.
Diri Care, which translates to “self-care” in Bahasa, is an on-demand and 1-stop digital clinic for skin, hair and intimate health conditions.
It aims to provide its users rapid health assessments and personalised treatment prescriptions by certified physicians, and deliver clinically proven products to its users in as fast as 2 hours.
Since an online beta version of the platform was launched in March this year, Diri Care has recorded over 13,000 consultations and reported revenue growth of more than 600 per cent. The company said it intends to launch both iOS and Android versions of the app “in the near future”.
The platform was co-founded by former Traveloka executive Christian Suwarna; former Boston Consulting Group project leader Armand Amadeus; and aesthetic and wellness doctor Deviana Himawan.
“This investment serves as a strong testament towards Diri Care’s mission in revolutionising consumer healthcare solutions,” said Suwarna, who helms the company as chief executive officer.
Co-founders Amadeus and Himawan act as Diri Care’s chief operating officer and chief clinical officer, respectively.
