SINGAPORE-BASED tech investor Monk’s Hill Ventures on Thursday (Sept 22) announced that it has launched a non-profit group, Angsana Council, to facilitate dialogues with key figures and promote business growth in South-east Asia.

The founding members of the council are: Charles Ormiston, founding partner for South-east Asia at Bain & Company; Peng T. Ong, co-founder and managing partner at Monk’s Hill Ventures; Gita Wirjawan, Indonesia’s former Minister of Trade and George Yeo, the former Singapore Cabinet Minister whose portfolios included health, trade and industry and foreign affairs.

The Angsana Council aims to engage in dialogues with entrepreneurs and policymakers “who can impact the region’s steady growth by raising investment levels, promoting entrepreneurial activity, supporting growth-friendly policies, and strengthening institutions”.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring together a distinguished set of council members who have a track record in accelerating economic and societal change in Southeast Asia,” said Ong of Monk’s Hill Ventures.

The 8-year-old venture firm’s investments across the region include logistics unicorn Ninja Van, Vietnamese digital health player Jio Health and marketing platform Saleswhale, which was acquired earlier this year.
