Singapore
THE streaming services war is heating up as Netflix on Tuesday launched Smart Downloads, a mobile offering that improves the offline viewing experience for its users. It is believed to be part of the American company's goal to attract more subscribers and be the No 1 streaming platform globally.
Netflix's Asian rivals - among them iflix and Hooq (by Singtel) - are however unfazed. They told The Business Times that they, too, are ramping up their services to compete for subscribers, notably through mobile innovation and localisation.
