Ninja Van to invest US$50m in improving automation of parcel processing

LAST mile delivery player Ninja Van announced that it would be investing US$50 million into automation systems for parcel processing across key sorting hubs.
This investment will progressively retrofit 9 of Ninja Van’s regional parcel sorting hubs, with completion expected by H2 2024. This investment will see a 50 per cent improvement in the company’s overall operational productivity across South-east Asia.
This new investment follows other automation technology already rolled out to key parcel sorting hubs. The Singapore parcel sorting hub saw a customised automated sorting belt deployed in October 2021, and an integrated measurement and sorting system was installed in Philippines’ hub in April 2022. On Sep 1, a new parcel sorting hub was opened in Thailand with a 4 kilometre-long semi-automated parcel sorting conveyor belt.
“An optimal delivery experience is critical in helping brands build trust amongst online shoppers, so it is crucial for us to continue investing in systems and processes that can drive these outcomes. We believe this will result in a measurable impact on Ninja Van’s business and strengthen our ability to serve our customers across the region,” said Joel Ong, Ninja Van Group’s chief operating officer.
