USERS of payment platform YouTrip were unable to make top-ups and convert currencies via the app in what was reported to be a server outage on Wednesday (Jul 13).
The outage, which appeared to have began at 11.41 am SGT, led to growing frustration amongst users, especially travellers who relied on the multi-currency payment platform to make payment overseas.
"It has been 2 hours and 30 minutes since the maintenance and we could not buy anything using the card as our top-up could not go through," said a user who only wanted to be known as Ms Lee.
Lee, an auditor who is currently on a vacation in Korea, said she waited for half an hour at the store she was shopping at before deciding to use her credit card to make payment instead, despite the higher conversion and transaction fees.
"They said it was a minor disruption so we decided to wait... but up till now, we have not been able to use the card at all," she added.
According to a notice on YouTrip's app seen by The Business Times, both currency exchanges and top-up functions in Singapore and Thailand were unavailable during the server outage.
As at 11.47 pm on Wednesday, YouTrip said the technical issues had been fixed, but users may experience an intermittent delay in transaction display as its server recovers.
YouTrip did not provide information on the number of users affected in this round of server outage.
"All transactions will continue to be completed successfully as per normal," said a YouTrip representative.
"We would like to reassure all users that their money and data are safe. Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused."
