Private market exchange ADDX appoints SGX veteran Chew Sutat as chairman
PRIVATE market exchange operator ADDX on Thursday (Jun 15) named former SGX senior managing director Chew Sutat as its chairman.
Chew has been a board member of ADDX’s holding company, ICHX Tech, since 2018 and will retain his role there. He has also chaired the platform’s listing committee since 2019.
Founded in 2017, Singapore-based ADDX provides accredited investors access to alternative asset classes such as private equity, hedge funds and private credit. It has listed over 70 deals on its platform, working with companies such as Singtel, UOB and Temasek-owned Fullerton Fund Management.
In his new role as chairman, Chew will provide guidance to entrench ADDX’s position in the global private market space, the company said. He will also work with the executive team to set the company’s strategic direction, as it looks towards regional expansion.
Chew has spent 25 years in the financial services industry, including 14 years on SGX’s executive management committee. He headed the bourse’s global sales and origination team and managed its international offices across 10 cities.
Prior to SGX, he held senior roles at Standard Chartered Bank, OCBC Securities and DBS. He is currently a lead independent director at Yangzijiang Financial Holding and board member at Income Insurance.
In a press statement, Chew said that he is delighted to work with ADDX on strategies to “increase liquidity and scale” in the private markets, and “bridge the gulf between public and private markets”.
ICHX Tech chief executive Danny Toe said that Chew will “play a critical role in ensuring ADDX is well-governed and positioned for long-term success”.
