Singapore-based 1982 Ventures strikes partnership with South Korean investors
SINGAPORE-BASED early stage venture capital firm 1982 Ventures has entered a strategic partnership with South Korean investors Infobank, C&Venture Partners and BTC Investment.
In a joint statement on Tuesday, the firms said that the partnership will provide the South Korean investors local support in South-east Asia as they expand to new markets, while providing 1982 Ventures partners on the ground in Korea to help it "deepen its ties to the Korean startup ecosystem".
C&Venture Partners managing director Lee Moonkyu, representing the South Korean investors, said that 1982 Ventures has shown leadership in early-stage investing in South-east Asia. "Their expertise in fintech was key in selecting their firm as our long-term venture capital fund partner," he added.
Herston Powers, managing partner of 1982 Ventures, said: "We are honoured and excited to partner with this group of leading South Korean investors to provide access to South-east Asia and for our market entry into Korea.
"An increasing number of Korean investors and startups are starting to see the significant market opportunity in South-east Asia and are looking for partners such as 1982 Ventures to support their market entry," he added.
