Asus targets education, SMBs in enterprise push

ASUS Singapore is looking to branch out from its traditional strength in the consumer PC arena and build up a stronger enterprise presence, focusing primarily on key sectors such as education and small and medium-sizes businesses (SMBs).

Alvin Huang, country manager for Singapore at Asus, told BizIT that the Taiwanese PC maker has built up a strong reputation and market presence in the local consumer PC market space. As it stands, it jostles with Apple for the second spot in terms of shipment volumes, and margins between them are "very little". Top spot belongs to Acer, he noted.

Going into 2014, the company has also identified Singapore as one of its top 10 focus markets, which means it is committing more marketing dollars and other resources to build up its share in the local market. Australia is the only other Asia-Pacific market to be on the list, the executive shared.
