NETWORKING, and now increasingly, cloud and data centre vendor, Cisco, believes that a brutal consolidation is taking place in the IT industry and many of today's top companies will not be around 10 years from now.

Speaking at the company's annual summit, CiscoLive 2104 last week, the company's chairman and CEO, John Chambers candidly admitted that even his company is under threat if it fails to reinvent itself over the next five years or so. Mr Chamber adds that this is not just a phenomenon being felt by the IT industry. He believes that more than one third of today's major global companies will not be around 25 years from today.
