Concrete policies critical to close gender gap in tech

GENDER diversity in the workforce remains a potent issue in discussions about gender equality. Its importance has increased due to Covid-19 outbreak, as the pandemic has raised concerns about women's jobs being disproportionately affected compared to men's jobs.
McKinsey Global Institute reported in 2020 that women's jobs were 1.8 times more vulnerable to the pandemic than men's jobs, owing to the disproportionate increase in demand for unpaid care caused by the pandemic. And if no action is taken to cancel out the economic effects of female unemployment, global GDP growth could shrink by US$1 trillion in 2030.
