Dyson goes on hiring drive in the UK and South-east Asia
TECHNOLOGY company Dyson has announced that it will hire more than 2,000 engineers and digital specialists in locations, including Singapore.
The Business Times understands that Dyson will announce more details about the Singapore recruitment drive in the coming weeks.
This will be the Singapore-headquartered company's largest hiring exercise yet under the £2.8 billion (S$5.06 billion) investment plan announced in 2020. This year, £600 million of the £2.8 billion will be spent on investing in technology, facilities and laboratories.
Dyson is also mounting its hiring drive in the UK, Malaysia and the Philippines.
The roles to be filled span all levels and are in the electronics, acoustics, design engineering, machine learning, software, data connectivity, and robotics and materials teams.
James Dyson, the company's founder and chief engineer, said: "We like looking at problems in the 'wrong' way and pioneering our own solutions. As a result, we are succeeding and growing. But to continue this exciting journey, we need the best and brightest engineers and digital experts to join us."
The move comes as Dyson reported a 5 per cent growth in 2021 to £6 billion, up from £5.7 billion in 2020. Profits also rose in tandem, growing by 16 per cent from £1.3 billion to £1.5 billion.
Roland Krueger, the company's chief executive officer, said: "To build on this success and drive our research and development of new technologies, we are investing in our equipment and laboratories and launching our biggest recruitment campaign ever in engineering and digital roles."
