EMs leading IP address, mobile device growth
Many of the new devices are Android- based: Akamai study
AS we continue to add new connected devices to the global pool, it's clear that a lot of these are mobile devices in emerging markets (EMs), according to the US networking service provider Akamai's latest quarterly report, The State of the Internet.
It's also no surprise that many of these mobile devices are likely Android-based coming from the mid-tier range, driven by new Internet adopters in countries such as China and Brazil.
As a gauge, Akamai tracked the number of unique IP (Internet Protocol) addresses being added. An IP address is an identifier for each gadget on a network.
