INTERNET advertising will be a key area of growth as Singapore's combined entertainment and media revenues rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 5 per cent over the next five years, from US$5.15 billion in 2015 to US$6.58 billion in 2020, according to PwC's Global Entertainment and Media Outlook 2016-2020 report.
Singapore's overall advertising CAGR is forecast to grow at 4.4 per cent over the next five years, from US$1.8 billion in 2015 to US$2.2 billion in 2020. Growth in traditional advertising segments such as TV and print is slowing in US dollar terms, while Internet advertising in its various forms is rising. Singapore's total Internet advertising revenue will grow at 15.5 per cent CAGR over the forecast period and hit US$616 million in 2020. Last year, Internet advertising revenue grew by 24.5 per cent, up to US$300 million. The Internet advertising growth in Singapore exceeds the equivalent global rate of growth which is 11.1 per cent CAGR.
