KPMG is extending its drive towards innovation to staff experience, having rewired its staff lounge with the latest technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality and connected analytics.

First opened in 2011, the KPMG Clubhouse underwent a four-month redesign, with the goal to place it at the forefront of technology, functionality and design, said KPMG.

The revamped lounge spans over 5,000 square feet and is meant to provide staff with a "futuristic" experience of technology and innovation, while giving them a space to relax and work comfortably.

The centrepiece of the lounge is a towering, floor-to-ceiling light-emitting diode (LED) screen powered by artificial intelligence. Named FRED (Friendly Relatable Engaging Device), the device uses facial recognition to automate entry to the lounge. It also doubles up as a virtual assistant - from giving coffee suggestions to delivering the day's news.

In the revamp's second phase, KPMG will roll out an in-house food ordering app that taps the abilities of connected analytics. Staff can not only earn points for purchases but also be rewarded by supervisors through the app's reward system.

The app will also be linked to FRED, making way for personalised food and drink recommendations by the virtual assistant.

Managing partner at KPMG in Singapore, Ong Pang Thye, said: "It is symbolic of the firm's vision to create a showcase of the latest technologies and innovation to bring an 'ecosystem of the future' to life - one that redefines the future of work, and one that elevates the people experience to another level."
