[ABU DHABI]THE world's largest startup accelerator Plug and Play is looking to open an accelerator programme in Singapore by March 2018, to tap the fintech market in the city-state, its founder and CEO Saeed Amidi told The Business Times on Monday.
"We would love to do a Singapore fintech and insurtech hub," said Mr Amidi.
He was speaking at the sidelines of Fintech Abu Dhabi, the first fintech event in the Middle East and Africa region.
He hopes to set up a Plug and Play programme with five banks and five insurance companies, and "hopefully" with Singapore's Monetary Authority of Singapore.
Mr Amidi was an early investor in PayPal, Dropbox and Lending Club.
His comments come ahead of the Singapore Fintech Festival 2017, to be held in November.
