MICRON Technology (Micron) is set to invest an estimated US$4 billion in expanding its fabrication plant here - one of the largest investment in Singapore's semiconductor industry in a decade.

The computer memory maker's expansion plans were revealed in its 8-K filing with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission earlier this week. It will add about 255,000 square feet of clean room space to its fabrication facility here. According to Micron's 8-K filing, this expansion will help with the "efficient implementation" of the production of 3D Nand - an advanced type of flash memory.
