Orchestrating tableau of big data

BACK in 2003, three Stanford engineers were huddled in Christian Chabot's bedroom, working on a data research project funded by the US Department of Defence.

Mr Chabot, Chris Stolte and Pat Hanrahan quickly realised that beyond the project, the business of data would become something big years down the road, when it would matter even to mainstream companies.

The three went on to found Tableau Software, which has been specialising in providing business intelligence and data analytics software from its inception.
