Pioneer in groundwater research wins Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize

A TOP hydrogeologist from Canada who has pioneered work in groundwater is this year's winner of the prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Water Prize.
John Anthony Cherry, 74, was lauded for his contributions and influence in groundwater management, and his dedication to the protection of groundwater resources, which constitutes 95 per cent of usable freshwater on the planet. He is currently a distinguished professor emeritus of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada.
