Pivotal Innovation Centre opens here
Firm hopes to boost adoption of its cloud and database tools through this facility
PIVOTAL last week officially opened its Innovation Centre in Singapore in partnership with the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) and aims to grow the base of data scientists locally through it.
The platform-as-a-service (PaaS) provider, a spin-off from parent companies EMC and VMware, said it invested US$8 million in relevant hardware, software and the recruitment of a team of data scientists for the centre, which is the first of its kind for the company.
Speaking at the launch, Pivotal CEO Paul Maritz said consumer-facing Internet giants such as Google and Facebook have helped drive the IT industry to a "post-paper" era whereby most processes within organisations have been automated.
