TEMASEK has established a new artificial intelligence (AI) centre of excellence, Aicadium, to aid companies in adopting and delivering AI technologies and solutions, the Singapore investment company said on Thursday.

Aicadium "aims to fulfil a need shared by Temasek's global network of portfolio companies and others seeking to improve their business outcomes using AI", Temasek said. It noted that companies typically faced barriers in achieving operational AI, including a lack of understanding, difficulty in quantifying realistic use cases and the need to acquire scientists and engineers.

The centre, based in Singapore and San Diego, US, will leverage a common machine learning platform to deliver AI-as-a-service from discovery to deployment, and will be assembled under the guidance of Temasek's head of AI strategy and solutions Michael Zeller.

Mr Zeller noted that AI has a key role to play in keeping Temasek's portfolio and talent resilient, as well as seizing future opportunities and growth. "Temasek is committed to driving digital transformation across its portfolio," he said.

"Initiatives like Aicadium are how we deploy our capital to catalyse novel solutions to transform businesses and further social impact," Mr Zeller added.
