BUSINESSES these days are increasingly exposed to cyber threats and need to take steps to enhance the security of their systems.

"Today, we work in an environment with 3.5 new threats created every second," says David Siah, country manager, Trend Micro. The Trend Micro 2013 Threats Report further highlights the soon-to-be outdated Windows XP as among the affected OS (operating systems) with as many as 45 Microsoft security bulletins released between July 2012 and July 2013.

No wonder Internet security is now a pressing concern among business operators, especially as companies make the OS switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 or 8.1. "With the new platform migration, SMEs (small and medium enterprises) will need to stay vigilant against potential cyberthreats," added Mr Siah.
